Hiking 450km Alone on the Lycian Way in Türkiye

August 5, 2024

In March/April 2024 (Spring), I hiked the Lycian Way (or Likya Yolu in Turkish) from the town of Ölüdeniz (near Fethiye) to Geyikbayırı (near Antalya) in Türkiye. The Lycian Way varies in distance from 400km to 760km, depending on the chosen route. The trail passes many Greco-Roman ruins and popular sites such as Butterfly Valley, Patara Ancient City, the Ancient City of Olympos, and Olympos Beydağları National Park. I camped mostly in my tent, resupplied food in towns, and found the hike challenging but incredibly beautiful. The steep inclines and loose rocks were tough, but the experience was amazing.
